KS CHIP- Kansas CHild Identification Program

  • On average in the US, a child is reported missing every 43 seconds!!!

The Grand Lodge of Kansas Ancient Free & Accepted Masons & Gardner Lodge #65 in cooperation with: Kansas Sheriff's Association, Johnson Co. Sheriffs Dept., and Gardner Police present: Kansas CHIP.

What is CHIP?  CHIP is one of the most comprehensive child recovery & identification programs in the nation. AND.....it's FREE!     At this event, the Masons generate individual completed child identification kits that are given to the parent or guardian to take home for safekeeping (the Masons keep nothing but the permission form).

Each child progresses through the various stations of the event generating an identifying item at each station to be placed in his/her kit. Parents are reminded to take the packages on trips and vacations. This completed kit can be immediately provided to authorities to aid in the recovery of a missing child.

Various stations include:
DNA Cheek Swab: Cheek cells in saliva provide DNA, which can uniquely identify anyone.
Diigital Still Photo: Amber Alert is in operation throughout Kansas. The color photo can be circulated by police to media throughout the state within two hours of abduction.
Fingerprints: Fingerprints are a well known tool for recovery investigation and identification. Every person's prints are unique.
Video Imaged Interview: A brief videotaped interview is invaluable to an investigator.

How long does it take?   It takes about 10-15 minutes to progress through the stations.

How much does it cost?   Nothing! The Masons provide this free of charge for parents and guardians.

Where is it?   In the First Presbyterian Church Lobby.
